was browsing YouTube and found this video of what looks to be a new Lionel bipolar state set, but engine has diesel sounds instead of electric

Since it is Bi-Polar, does it play steam sounds when in reverse?
LOL!

It's funny that they don't even notice that it's the wrong sounds.
That is just plain weird! Lionel cites the EP-2 as being known for it's quiet operation...
My PE BiPolar definitely has the electric sounds.
I set my f40 in after flywheel shredded wires and it came back with the wrong sounds, I sent it back and the fixed it, so I guess anything is possible like putting wrong sounds in a loco
I have both the EP-1 and the state set and both bi-polars have electric sounds... no diesel sounds... I wonder if you heard the steam generator sound which creates the smoke effect?

Possible but I don't think my steam gen makes that noise and I didn't hear any "arcing" from the pantographs on their video.
Here's my smoke gen running and I really don't hear what their video is providing.

That ain't no steam generator sound effect. The video's model definitely has an EMD diesel sound set.

I have only run both that I have 1 time to confirm everything worked correctly and then back in the box they went... It was a thought... I don’t believe these have any arching sounds but do have the catenary sounds... and the whir sound as the speed increases like the GG1’s have... didn’t notice any diesel engine sounds in either video...

Well the sounds my PE BiPolar has, what I call arcing, is the same sounds my VL GG1 makes when the arcing lighting effect happens.
Let me revise (before I get more hate mail than a dirty politician) by saying that the original video def has a diesel sound... however the PE video’s (as well as my own) do not as far as I can hear....

Let me rephrase that. The OP's video link of the Bi-Polar State Set definitely has diesel sounds. I wasn't clear in my posting.
Rusty
Sorry if anyone has taken my replies the wrong way. Maybe I'm not following what your getting at. I agree with Rusty, the OP definitely seem to have diesels sounds and I do not hear the arcing or catenary sounds like I do on my PE and GG1.
People really send hate emails from this forum?
I have the 2360 GG1 from the MAJESTIC ELECTRIC FREIGHT...never noticed it but when I was adding a heat sink i noticed the chip...it was from a Northern pacific S-1...never paid attention to the sound but when you know it's obvious.....maybe a Monday or Friday engine.....
Not only is the sound wrong, so is the horn
