I'm wanting to duplicate the orange & blue colors that is used on the newer Lionel toys. I have every color that Wood's matched including the blue & orange. Due to the prolonged drying time (days & days), is there any in the newer acrylics out there? Has anyone tried the off the shelf rattle cans for color match? I'm wanting to avoid the time and expense of going to an automotive paint supplier. Many Thanks To All!

I did a caboose a few years ago using Rust Oleum Navy and Orange that I got at Home Depot...It was pretty close for off the shelf paint. I will try to post a pic when I get home from work.

Jeff,
Your color (choice)ideas are right on the money. Saved me a lot of time not to mention mental *****frustration*****Thank you!!
I remembered this from a while back: Link https://ogrforum.com/t...ing-mth-lionel-blue, and the detail post below.
I have just used the orange on a set of 600/601/602 cars and a 249E and they look pretty good to me so far, However, my local supplier for Benjie Moore wants $28 for a quart of the blue mixed up and I can't see using that much.... So I am looking for alternatives.

I also wanted to match the blue and orange and finally found Benjamin Moore "Blue" 2066-10 as a near perfect match. I restored some old 2600 series freight cars and the blue matched that in the 255E perfectly. For the orange I settled on Rustoleum 214084 Orange which is darn close. The orange comes in spray only I believe. For the Benjamin Moore blue I got a quart in the high gloss Impervo alkyd oil base and used a sprayer. Get a paint chip of the blue at a Benjamin Moore dealer and compare it to your engine. you will be pleased!
