Looking to see if there are any photos available yet of the recently released Conrail OCS E8's?
All I've been able to find searching online thus far are the artist's renderings.
Thanks in advance.

Anyone? Have these even hit the street yet?
Just checking to see if there's any evidence of these unit's existence.
Surprisingly, I still have yet to see any photos posted.
They do exist. I received mine from Charles Ro about 4 weeks ago. Haven't opened them yet. If I can I will post some photos on Monday.

Just following up to see if we still can get some photos posted!
Thanks!
DISCLAIMER : A photographer, I am not!! I hope these photos help anyone that may be looking for something in particular. I think I captured all of the angles. I do apologize that it took so long to get the photos on the forum.
Enjoy.

Thank you very much for taking the time out to post these, Mark.
You are welcome.

Wow Mark, cool looking display too!
Its too bad Lionel missed the mark on these. Porthole windows and steam generator details that these real CR E’s didn’t have.

To be fair neither mainstream company is known for being completely accurate.

Since you apparently do not consider Sunset/3rd Rail/Golden Gate Depot a "mainstream company", how would you compare their various SD, F, FP, and E unit models for prototypical accuracy?

Mainstream meaning almost everyone can afford their higher-end products and they're well-known. You ask almost anyone in the hobby they'll know what Lionel and MTH are. I've talked to plenty of people who had no idea Sunset/GGD or Atlas existed in O scale. One guy I talked to was very disappointed in the Lionel El Capitan cars we had for sale, so I recommended GGD and now he has the 8-car set from them with extra cars.
Now about prototypical accuracy, I have looked at photos of Sunset's F7 Demonstrator vs. the real F7 Demonstrator and the model appears to be completely correct except for the coupler (this was a Kadee-equipped version) which for whatever reason EMD painted silver.

Considering the price that Lionel charges, with absolutely NO OPTION for fixed pilots & Kadee coupler compatibility, not to mention the detail errors and the big gap between the trucks and the carbody, I'll take Sunset/3rd Rail any day. Also, MTH seems to offer 2 Rail versions of many diesel units, thus having fixed pilots and full length hand rails.

I would too if I had the money. Being the picky person I am I only purchase more than 90% correct models, and the majority of my models are MTH, K-Line, and GGD.
To others reading the thread the goal here isn't to bash Lionel. It is merely stating the reason why some Lionel products aren't completely correct. They have to cut corners somewhere to appeal to a bigger customer base.

Well you are correct on the porthole windows but teh ex -EL unit #4022 DID have steam generator and NO dynamic brake
Here are pics of Lionel's Conrail OCS #4022 from the OCS set:
Comparing the model to Pics of the 1:1.
NOT a bad model once the:
Dynamic BRake is covered
Nose ladders applied on the front
Covering the Porthole windows.
And below are pics of the MTH E8's #4020 & #4021.
What do the wheels mic out to be? In real life, most E8s and E9s had 36" wheels. If I recall correctly, both Lionel and MTH were selling their E-units with the standard diesel wheels, which measure about 42 scale inches. K-Line's were closer and more convincing. So I'm curious... what's the wheel diameter of the Lionel and MTH versions depicted above?
