Does Lionel except repairs for the # 993 Legacy expansion charger base that won’t charge anymore?? If So what number do I call to get a RA number?

Email them at talktous@lionel.com and see. Or might be easier to grab some rechargeable batteries off Amazon with a charger.
Don't think they're fixing the bases anymore, not sure about the CAB2's.
Brian,
Don't feel bad! I have 4 Legacy Base 2, and none of the 4 bases or handhelds charge the batteries. I use Lithium 1.5 volt batteries in the Hand Held Remote to get the longest running life. Whoever designed the charging circuits in the Base 2's didn't have a clue, and NEVER tested them extensively. I wonder if anyone out there has a working one. I wish Lionel would publish the charging schematic for both the Base and the handheld unit. Sometimes the fix is as easy as replacing the pico fuse in the base that I can't seem to find. Other times, it means replacing the series pass transistor in the Base 2. With no schematic, I haven't taken the time to trace out the circuit and see what components fail.
If there is a schematic out there, and any member knows where it is for download, I would appreciate the link.

My BASE2 charger works, but I never used it to charge the CAB2's. First off, it's hard to get them to sit on it, for some reason the remote falls out...
I use a #993 charging base to charge the remotes, that works just fine and always has. I use Tenergy Centura NiMh batteries in the CAB2's.

Thank you guys for responding to my post! I did contact Lionel today and asked about repairs on the legacy remote recharging bases, and they will not do any repairs on them, or any remote system from the past😡 “ Thanks for sticking by your products Lionel” I’ll do what “Arts model trains” suggested get some rechargeable batteries and a charger! Thank you Brian…
