I have the latest Legacy H10 2-8-0 in Western Allegheny. I was running the engine via the Lionel app on fastrack. I noticed smoke coming from the rear of the tender. I shut off all power snd pulled the tender. I saw the rubber was melting away around the coil part of the coupler. Has anyone seen this issue or know if it was a one time signal issue to the coupler or do I have to replace the couple?

Hello

I'm new here, but I had the same loco as you. Before I was using with my cab2 remote and everything was ok.  Last week I decided to use with the app to show to my son  and happened to me the same. I think the app maybe have something wrong that doesn't turn off the coupler and it  gets hot.

Well after this happened to me, I opened the tender and disconnected and connected again the coupler, and everything is ok again. After this little problem, my loco didn't run at all, and then a blinking light appeared, and I opened it and I found that the black plastic around the motor that go to the sensor was broken, so I used crazy glue and installed it again and it is working again.

I tried to buy a motor replacement from Lionel, just in case, but they didnt have it.

Well, hope you fixed your loco.

Best,

Gino
