Well-adapted to life in the back-woods, the Heisler could go where normal steam locomotives dared not tread. With swiveling power trucks and twin pistons powering a geared drive shaft, the Heislers were sure-footed and strong enough to handle the roughest track, sharpest curves and steepest grades the logging companies could throw at them.

This locomotive is back with more features than ever and is the perfect complement to our growing line of logging cars and accessories.

I would like to see a side by side comparison of the Lionel and the Bachmann Heislers!!!

Jim

The Bachmann On30 Heisler is based on a 14 ton locomotive.  The Lionel Heisler is based on a 90 ton locomotive.  That is almost as much size difference as you can get among geared locomotives.

The monster 150 ton Shays that Lionel and MTH have modeled are too big and heavy for even the big western logging outfits.  The MTH 70 ton Climax and the Lionel 90 ton Heisler are the most appropriately sized geared locomotives for anyone modeling a logging operation.
