Is it possible to program older non legacy Lionel locomotives into your legacy CAB 2 remote and run them using the remote?

Yes. Any TMCC either factory or aftermarket can be operated from the Legacy system.
Do you need to add anything to your layout (such as a module) or is this just done through and with the remote? I have the WiFi and two ASC operating now. I have tried to install three different Lionel locomotives but nothing should eems to happen after hitting the set button. The locomotives operate fine off the transformer but the CAB 2 only operates the three modules.
They must have TMCC or an aftermarket TMCC compatible system installed in the locomotive. Are you following the instructions for programming them using the RUN/PGM procedure? We need more information. What are the locomotive item numbers? How are you connected to the track? What is your setup?
Any conventional or MTH PS locomotives will require them to be operated in conventional mode using a powermaster.
None of the Lionel locomotives have the programming switch. They are older models of Lionel and do not have the program switch. The only switches are directional ability and/or sound capability. It appears that I will be using the conventional method of operation until I purchase Legacy locomotives. Thank you for your input it is greatly appreciated.
