I just purchased three newly released Lionel scale GP-35's.  Two PRR's and one UP. All have the same RailSounds sound chip in them.  After initial startup, there is a sporadic ticking sound.  I called Lionel and talked to a tech. that I know very well and he told me that all GP-35's have that ticking sound and it was in the recording of the chip.  The review in the June/July issue made no mention of this characteristic.  I find that very interesting. Once the engines start moving and rev up, the additional audio effects drown that ticking sound out.  It is my opinion that Lionel failed to catch this. I feel that this should have been remediated before releasing the product.  Maybe I'm to critical, but this "just ain't right."  I am a retired speech and language pathologist and am very aware of auditory nuanses.  Has anyone else out there heard these sounds.  As stated before, Lionel admitted they exist so I know I'm not just hearing things.

Sure that was the engine & not the engineer? Possibly needs a "Beano"

The engineer likes Mason William's Classical Gas.  Seriously, thank you. I really appreciate your input.  I have learned something and admit my lack of knowledge.  Thank you again for taking the time to set me straight!!!!

Brian,

My apologies for butchering your name...but "Brain" isn't too bad...    Glad the units are running great!
