Thinking about purchasing this engine as there still a few out there and couple questions on performance
1.) Those whom have purchased any issues quality wise?
2.) States 054 and building layout with a 063 and 54 radius. As this is a big engine does it in fact run well on those radius’s if you run yours on these respective radius
Any other points are appreciated as asking as I really like this engine but is a big purchase

Lionel produced 2 different Niagaras.....which one are you talking about? ....we need a product number of what your looking at....there’s the CCII and of course the Vision Line.......Pat
cannot give opinion concerning radius, however I have two of them and they are great!
I have had no quality issues with mine; it has performed great since I took it out of the box. No problem running it on 054 DIAMETER curves. The track curve of "O" gauge trains is figured in diameter, not radius.
My Vision Line Niagara has been fine but two club members had to send theirs back ti Lionel for repair. One engine just died and the other had smoke unit issues.
My CC Niagara has been upgraded and detailed and runs great. Its become my favorite.

Forgot to add was talking about the recent vision line Niagara
Got the VL Niagara last October and it is a good runner; out of the box, I had one issue and that was with the vertical hand rails on the back end of the cab - one was broken off at its lower mounting hole - easy fix with epoxy (tried crazy glue but that discolored the surrounding black paint, used Tamiya spray paint to fix that). One other issue - running it with a CW80 was not enough to get the water effect from the tender but used a ZWL and the tender smoked as designed.
I have the VL gray (grey?) version and it's been absolutely fine in terms of multiple operating feature performance (using a ZW-L for power).
It's not really a big engine (compared to models of articulated steamers) but has a centipede tender. Only use mine on O72 track but I don't see that it would have an issue on O54 or O63.
Appreciate all the responses as just wanted to make sure due $$. There are still a few out there. Grey one appears to be sold out but like this engine and features are great.

Mine came back from Lionel a few weeks ago after the sound quit. It ran fine but would not produce chuff, whistle, or bell sounds. I tested it a couple nights ago and it performs like new. The Lionel tech gave me a personal 'Thank You' for the detailed description of the problem and what I tested before contacting them. Came back just as it was sent with a new RCMC bd. installed. Thanks Lionel!
