Never seen this one discussed here. Modern day "Girl"s Train?"

With all the units that likely have seen (or will see) a repaint, possibly!
Problem is it will take 60 years to find out.

Santa will be bringing the engine for my 4 year old daughter. I don't trust her with her Williams girls train yet! I gave it a test run, its a neet little engine. Has basic diesel sounds and pet based station announcements.
It was available at roughly that price at Ollie's last year. They also had a Dinosaur Train - Lionchief Engineer, several cars, DC Power Supply, and a loop of Fastrack. - Salesman suggested I buy it because you can find additional track to expand as compared to some of the less expensive plastic track sets.
I wouldn't plan my retirement around it.

It doesn't pull worth a darn. We had the dinosaur train I bought for the museum last Christmas. We put a rectifier in it and it held up running without an issue for 6 months or so. They don't pull but they do hold up.

Add weight. That's all my dc starters really needed was weight & a rectifier.
Picked one up for about the same price from Kohl's last year. Wrapped it on monday for my daughter's Christmas present, she's about 3 and a half. Looking forward to seeing her face light up - she loves playing trains with Daddy and anything painted pink!
My daughter got one when she was 3 and loves it, especially the cats and dogs that come with it to ride in the gondola. I cannot kill the thing even though it has fallen off the layout a couple times running at warp 9. For those that said its not a good puller, that diesel will pull a 9 train DIE CAST consist with a little wheel slip starting out. It will pull its supplied plastic/one axle per truck train without breaking a sweat. The only thing I don't like is the sounds are beyond annoying to listen to.
We sell alot of these especially during the holidays. My daughter has one to "play" with, its cute and does its purpose.!
That's my for sale ad. I bought a lot of stuff at an estate sale and this was included. I listed it for $60 or BEST OFFER in the Raleigh, NC area.
I have no experience with them other than trying this one out. Definitely seems like it's geared for the girl's market, though I'd imagine any small kid would enjoy it. Seems to do what it's supposed to do. Goes around the track, has lights, and has sounds. It only has a circle of track. If Lionel would add 2 or 4 straights to the package that would make for more play fun. I doubt it will get kids going in model railroading but it's definitely a fun toy to play with.
