This engine ( and I think a few other Lionel GP 9s-I clearly am not an expert) has a blinking yellow  light on the cab roof. Two queston please-1) is this light/wires available from Lionel-(or a similar type from a different train company)? and 2) would it be possible to put such a light onto a PRR Lionel GP which does not come with such a warning light-or even better onto a Williams or K Line PRR GP ?   I actually have the 6-18567-but model lots of PRR MOW "stuff" and would like to have another-and a Williams, for example, would have more pulling power and likely be substantially less expensive. I prefer to have my MOW work diesels with the warning light. As usual, thanks to you experienced and kind to share (with electronicaally unknowledgable old farts like myself) OGRers !!  turtle7

On my Lionel diesel the blinking is not from the bulb itself but from a connection to a circuit board that performs the blink. I tried to simply replace the GOW bulb with an LED using the existing wires but it didn’t work. After some posts here I discovered that an LED doesn’t draw enough voltage for the circuit to think there’s a bulb there (my explanation, not a technical one). A triac (I think) was also needed before the LED. By using the original circuitry you can turn the flash off with your CAB, but that wasn’t important to me. I ended up using a flashing LED bought from Evans and just connected it directly to track power. Since the little plastic housing it goes into is colored you can get a white or colored bulb. If you get white, make sure it’s warm white since a cool white may look to white.
