OK, I am back. I ordered the FETs to play with the DCDS but thinking the through is there a way I can test the FETs before removing them from the board and adding the new one? I gave digikey.com all the numbers on the sides and they said there are a pair of each.
I would just replace all four. My method is to cut them off near the body of the FET, then remove the leads one at a time. Clean out the holes mount the new FETs, and put the heatsink back on.
Back to this, thanks to all that replied. John, I did replace all 4 FETs and it did not change anything. I got a new DCDS and as we suspected and replaced it last night and the engine runs and I get the flicker. Yea! Thanks again to all the replied. But I am back to my original problem, sounds not operating properly. I did a reset, AUX1 7 4 still not working properly. Throttle works, smoke on and off works, headlight flashes during program resets. The best way to describe the sounds I do get are the blowoff and idle sounds stuck in a loop, I get crew talk and chatter. No whistle, no bell, no coupler sounds or coupler working. There was a time where this did work but now not.
That sounds like no communication with the tender. My first stop is to check the IR sensor alignment. Also, if you use a digital camera and look at the IR transmitter on the engine through the camera, you should see a glow if it's working. I've had a couple of recent experiences with broken connections under the heat-shrink tubing for the IR components, that will give you no control of the sounds. The fact that the coupler doesn't work or any remote triggered sounds suggests communication issues.
Since your crew talk is working, I would suspect a bad R2LC, sound board or the AD20. Will the backup light work. Also if you have another tender try swapping, this will help narrow the problem.

I have a Lionel 6-28067 Erie Pacific with the wireless tender. I will try that. I have run that tender with the Pacific a number of times and it will work, that will be a good test.
I wonder if the crew talk is just the random talk at idle when the tender is in conventional. Are you signaling for crew talk, or just hearing it randomly? If randomly, I am with John on test in the tether. You can try the offending tender on a known good engine and see if it works. G
I'm betting on the random crew talk. Pretty hard to imagine that you could trigger crew talk and not the whistle or bell! It's all the same path, and there is no additional hardware required for those functions, it's just different software. The fact that the coupler sounds don't work either is just another clue.
Left it alone for a few days and went back at it, did a reset and all is good. gave it a good run today and all is well. the 7 4 reset. Thanks to all.
Don't run it so hard, you're tiring it out!
