I did the conversion with Mario's (CentralFan1976) 3D printed pads (from Shapeways) on a Lionel Fantasy PS-1 (just in case I screwed up). I reused the Lionel trucks, added spacers, Intermountain 33" wheels, and Kadees and it turned out pretty good. It was a really quick conversion using Mario's mounting pad. Now I'll start on my other PS-1s.

I'm working on that J Daddy.

I have some thoughts...

A sanding stick with 1000-grit wet/dry (wet) should get it off with minimal damage to the paint. A little weathering will cover up the difference.

I understand what you mean and if that bothers you then you would probably want to address it.

I tend to take a "good enough" approach. If it doesn't jump out at me and drive me nuts I will let it go. I have a stack of 3R engines/cars to get through before I even start on the layout that will eventually fill my 35x16 space. I can't afford to get dragged into detail projects that don't really provide a big return on the amount of time invested. I'm more concerned with having a nice overall layout when I'm done than I am concerned with replacing a bolster on a cheap Lionel car. I guess you could say that I am painting with a broad brush at this time.

They work great on the PS-1. Just center it over the two ribs, flush with the end of the car. Then I used a hand drill to drill one hole, tap that hole, and screw in a 2-56 screw. Repeat for the other hole, install coupler and you're done. No shims required.

Yours are done... and will ship soon!

The PS-1 will fit them, the Round Top Box Cars and Scale Stock Cars... Also have a design for the single rib Steel Reefers...

Install here:

Thanks,

Mario
