Has anyone had any experience with Lionel Customer Service replacing the shells on the recently released F units.  I sent my O&W ABBA set back over six weeks ago and have not heard a peep.  Just wondering what the turnaround time may be or if anyone else sent their locos back for correction.

Thanks!

Lionel's O&W diesels appear to have received the silver paint that should have been on the Lionchief Plus Western Pacific GP-7.

Conversely, the Western Pacific GP-7 appears to have received gray paint meant for the O&W diesels.

Therefore, I wonder if Lionel will produce corrected silver painted replacement shells for their Lionchief Plus Western Pacific GP-7 ?

With a keen eye, you can see that these paint mix-ups sometimes occur in pairs. For example, the conventional classics Virginian rectifier set got colors swapped. The Timken boxcar's yellow was on the engine, and the engine's yellow made it on the Timken boxcar.

Trains came back on Friday, looks like I am one of the last guys to have these changed over as I saw a few posts from August with photos hoping mine would be correct.  Sadly, they are again very wrong for the O&W, much better than the silver but way too light to be correct. So Cadillac Mike, why all the fuss? These are just toys right? Maybe for some but I put a hundred bucks a month away for a year in order to buy these things and was ecstatic when Lionel said they were making them. I am just an average guy making an average wage and have to say I think I am done with Lionel.  It was my favorite for over forty years but I think I am going back to vintage Weaver stuff. Cheaper, made right here in the USA, easy to modify to prototype and great running.  The Lionel "scale" 2-6-0's were strike one and this experience with the F's was strike two and three.  Over a year to fix the problem with another one....

Disappointed.

I cannot comment on the Weaver troop Pullmans since I never bought one BUT I can say I am still running my very first FA2 purchased in 1989.  I have changed two of the wheelsets because the gears split but the motor, pickups and lights are tip top.  It is two rail so I added a flywheel and DCC and to this day she is one of my best locomotives.  $175 well spent.  My point was Weaver under Bob and Joe was a wonderful company and stood behind their products. If something was bad, they would try to rectify the situation. At the very least, the paint schemes were pretty much accurate. Kudos to Lionel for "trying" to fix the O&W shells, in this day and age of participation trophies for everyone I guess that is all we should expect.
