Great overview as usual, Eric. At the 22:34 mark, what is that dark and creepy apparition that crosses the road above the cab of the locomotive? Any other sharp-eyed viewers mention that? Kind of looks like a shadowy centipede or something! Cool.

Wow, you've got good eyes. I looked at the extended footage that was edited out and it was a little roach crawling across the layout. I never even noticed it! Time to get out my can of raid!

Just took delivery of my Pennsylvania 824 Camelback and I was glad I did! Lionel nailed the Brunswick green and gold highlights on the wheels. It runs great, smokes greater than great, looks absolutely gorgeous, sounds great. In fact its got a lot of rich sound from that small speaker! The smoke unit puts a lot of smoke out of the stack and whistle just on medium setting, but it does splatter the top of the locomotive with smoke fluid. Wipes off easily without stain. I didn't test it on low smoke. I wish the crewtalk was period specific instead of radio chatter. Not much radio chatter in late 1800s and turn of the century. I spoke with Joe Hitchcock at the last LCCA convention and suggested that Lionel provide period and road number specific dialog in their Legacy and above at least. Maybe they will someday.

Awesome! Can you share a picture of it?

I received my Fezziwig Railway camelback today. It is Awesome. Loaded with Christmas Sounds, music, Elf's and Santa. A trumpet for the whistle is cool and can switch and choose 5 whistles. I like the Eggnog colors. Sleigh bells for the bell.

I have the railway cars also on preorder. Sweet!

Looks like it's going to be a fun Christmas holiday! Hope you post the cars.

IMO, that ain't gonna' happen anytime soon.  I'm sure abandoning it was a significant cost savings for production.  Without kicking the product prices, I don't see them bringing it back.  They reserve that for the "Premium" models like the Vision Line and the hybrid brass models.

Here you go. Lots of different sound effects and there is so much more. I can't post it all.

Very nice. Smoke is amazing.

All I can say is WOW! The funny thing is that the Lionel 2023 Big Book doesn't mention a word about the special sounds of this locomotive. In fact there is no description at all, except a picture and you are referred to pg 39 for a generic description of the features of Legacy locomotives. I had no idea of how neat this thing was, otherwise I might have seriously considered ordering it. Now I'm spent.

Yes, I have the Legacy Hallows Eve Camelback from a couple years ago and it is loaded with Halloween sounds so I figured this one would be too so I pre-ordered it.

You can't even find one of those now and they sell for twice the cost if you are lucky to find one. Good chance these too will sell out quick and disappear.

Try to grab one if you can it is great.  Great bang for the buck for sure.

Something special with this loco. It really is a fun one.

I just got mine today from Train world.  They may have a few left in stock. It is really a cute and well detailed little engine.  The wheel design and trim is really excellent. I have not had a chance to get it running yet but the above videos sound great.  I really liked the more saturated colors of the catalog so I may airbrush the reds a little. I will post images when this is done.

Now look what you made me do! I just ordered one and the associated cars, but not the Hot Chocolate Thermos car, from Charles RO for $45 above preorder for the locomotive. They have a second lot coming in in November. I know that little speaker has good dynamic range from my Pennsylvania Camelback so I bet that music and sound effects sound very good. I have the hot chocolate scented smoke fluid ready and am looking forward to having a Merry Christmas with it.

It sounds like many of the Santa Shay sounds have been included in this locomotive.  I'd be interested to hear all 5 whistles.  It sounds like a very fun engine.  I hope you enjoy it and thanks for the video clips.

Here is a link to my overview of the Santa Shay.  I'll link it to the locomotive "startup".  You can compare the sound sets.

I received my Fezziwig locomotive much faster that the web site estimated from Charles RO Supply last Tuesday and it is awesome! The price was definitely right. The Fezziwig cars which the Charles RO invoice that accompanied the loco said were expected in November were actually shipped to me yesterday and should be here next week. The first whistle sound is absolutely amazing! The Christmas jingle bells sound is a little hard to discern. The Tower Com Christmas orchestral bells are glorious! This is an awesome smoking unit as is also my Pennsylvania camelback. These are going fast and the prices are going up even over MRSP at other dealers.

I agree 100%

Awesome and fun little Loco.
