Lionel's 'web' page (not the catalog) for this engine indicates the minimum curve is 0-42, although "0-54 is recommended." Due to its 28" length I would like to know if there is anyone on the Forum that has actually run this particular engine on 042 curves without it derailing (notwithstanding the obvious 'overhang' issue from an aesthetic standpoint).

Or whether the N&W J-Class #612 (6-11414) will work on 042 curves as I've just discovered a Lionel 'Overview Instructional Video' in which Mike Reagan (formerly with Lionel) refers to both the undecorated Pilot version and #612 in the same video.
Confirmation that these engines work on 042 curves would be most appreciated. Thanks!
It has blind drivers on the two middle drivers, so it shouldn't have much trouble with O42. The tender doesn't have any problematic trucks, so it should follow right along.
Esthetically, though - close your eyes.
I ran my 606 J over at Don’s place and he has O-42 curves and switches. Not really an issue. All of the scale Js are basically the same wheel arrangement and size do the pilot and 612 should work. It’s not something I would run very fast around though.
