Hi people:  Just a quick question on the Lionel Powermax 4W transformer (6-81495).   All promotional photos of it, like this one from Lionel.com: POWERMAX  -  show it to have labeled spots for direction, whistle & bell buttons.  Am I correct in recalling that at least the whistle & bell spaces are "dummy" buttons.  Can anyone verify this?  I may use a Powermax 40 as part of a train gift to a youngster.  I will also give him a modern-era, can-motor Lionel Alco & three typical 1990's Lionel 027 passenger cars.  Is this transformer sufficient?  (I guess if the loco has a horn, Powermax is not the right choice.)   Thank you!!

According to the owner's manual for the Powermax transformer, it has a direction button, whistle/horn button and bell button.   40 watts may be a bit light on power especially if you add any more to the set in the future.

Thanks!   It is interesting the owner's manual says that. The information on Lionel.com (above) shows a photo of the transformer with the buttons, but makes no mention of them.  And I don't think he will be adding to the train.
