Hello everyone my name is Sam and Im new to the forum. I am not new to the hobby though cause I have been in it as long as I can remember. Anyway this christmas I recieved lionel NYC sharks; a powered and a dummy. They ran fine untill the day after christmas when I turned them on and it went smoothly and as soon as I turned the throttle on the legacy remote the locomotives just started speeding away and would not respond to the legacy remote at all, not even the emergency stop button. I contaced lionel and they said ship them back and have them worked on. I have done this before with a K line tanker but it was a antenna problem. Im hoping you guys could help as maybe it could be something like resetting the locomotive etc.

Sam

Just a thought, I had this problem with my Legacy Geep, the engine ran great for a few days, then it would just sit there and the sounds would rev up, but no movement.  Other times, it just launched down the track a full speed with no throttle response.  I took the shell off (not as easy as one would think) and discovered the flywheel on the forward motor (the one with the sensor on it for the speed control) was loose.  I could spin it separately from the motor.  It turns out there are two VERY small set screws that hold the flywheel on the motor shaft.  I had to tighten these up, and now it runs fine.

Just one possibility.

I am just sick and tired of almost 90% of every new Lionel product I buy, having some manufacturing defect or fault.  It seems that lately Lionel has had some poor quality control.  Warranty or not, it is a pain to have to return things to Lionel constantly.
