Fellas,
I was so pleased with the report that I sought out a Powhatan Arrow Stationsounds diner to go with the set.
They look very similar to the Powhatan cars issued a few years back. I'll try to post pics soon.

If that set would of had a smoking whistle j I would of bought it.. Even if they sell me the main board so I could put a smoke unit in it I buy it..
Alex, from a couple of sources now, it appears the Big Boy may start shipping from Lionel to direct dealers and distributors on or near Dec 19th. It'll be a close call for Christmas, and some dealers like Charlie Ro are expecting arrival in their store on 12/30. Of course, these dates could shift in or out a bit, but it appears -- at least from Lionel's perspective -- that they'll meet their objective of a 2014 shipment. Whether everybody gets one in 2014 may be a trickier call -- especially with the Christmas Holiday right in there. But at this point, what's a few days (or even a week) either way? I'm sure most folks will be happy even if they get their Big Boy in early January.

At the LUG meeting Mike was adamant that they would be delivered in December. But he did say there were 31 days and he may use all of them. Of course this doesn't as David pointed out mean that the consumer would get them just to the retailers.
I'm ready whenever it gets here. For me this is the biggest investment as well as the biggest locomotive I ever purchased. I'm really looking forward to it.
^^^ That's hilarious!

Honestly though a small wait will be fine...
Yeah sometimes going to the LHS and buying whats off the shelf has merit...

Thank you, David!
Yes, anytime would be fine; but under the Christmas Tree December 25 would be best
Alex
This is great feed back from Lionel's customers which may be helpful to Lionel and customers in the future. Happy Holidays!
What happened to all the O Scale PS-5 gondolas?
Have those been produced somewhere?

...Sorry to say the Charles Ro estimated arrival dates (at their store) now have these pushed out to May 2015. I was hoping for a few North Pole Central gondolas, 'cause Lionel's online shipping schedule was indicating a Nov 2014 shipment. But we all know how inaccurate that shipping schedule tends to be. It apparently hasn't been updated to reflect the latest information that Charles Ro has received.
So those NPC gondolas will be part of next year's Christmas train! (We hope.) Looks like all the other roadnames for the PS-5's were delayed too.
David
Thanks for the update.
