I have a Lionel 2380 GP-9 from about 1996. I'm trying to run it with a new ZW and Command base but when I put it on the track it responds to all Cab 1 commands except for throttle. WhenI turn the knob it doesn't move but the Railsounds rpm increases. Any ideas how to get it moving?

Hi,
Just a idea here, try to reset the engine ID. I have had this happen to me in the past and after re-setting the engine ID I was back in business. Not saying this is what you have going on, but worth a shot. Hope this helps, Jeff
Check your batteries on your cab-1 as that function is the first to stop working with weak batteries.
Try running it in conventional with the command base unplugged. This may be as simple as a motor wire disconnected.
Remove the cab and check the three wires going to the motor, probably one is loose or broken.

Thanks for the suggestions. You motivated me to take the shell off and I found the paper clip-like spring that holds the one brush down had popped out on one end and was just resting on the brush and wasn't making contact with the wire at the other end. I snapped it in place and now have a very happy 6 and 3-year old!
Sometimes problems are really simple.
