Lionel Subway Controller | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Recently acquired Lionel R-16 subway set not realizing MTH controller does not operate doors.

Can anyone recommend a cost effective controller to use this set...

Really looking for something that would operate doors.

Best bet for cheap is the Lionel Cab1L unit. Of course to access all the features getting the Lionel legacy system is the best choice.

I've used MTH Z-1000 Transformer with the R16 Lionel to operate the doors and announcements without any issue but does not have all the features as Lionel Legacy system.
