I have a Lionel 2433994 - Legacy SW8 Diesel Locomotive "Norfolk & Western" #2107 - Custom Run for MrMuffin’sTrains that I purchased new and had weathered, so I plan to send it to Lionel for a warranty repair, but would love to be able to figure out the issue to save the time/trouble.

There appears to be an issue with the legacy board, I am unable to control this engine with the Base 3 or any other TMCC system. The engine shows up correctly in the Cab 3 app (identified correct road name and number, etc), but it does not run in Legacy or TMCC, and the sound and smoke come on as soon as the engine is powered on. I can change the engine ID using the PGM/RUN switch, but it doesn’t make a confirmation sound when I push set, but the ID does seem to change.  I've tried programming it using both the Cab 3 app, and my Cab 2.

It runs fine with bluetooth.

My other TMCC and Legacy engines have no issues with my current setup.

Any ideas of anything I can try or check?  I tried using the Run/PGM switch in reverse, made no difference.

I'm comfortable with opening up the engine and trying just about anything.

Thanks!

Well, I'm confused.  If you can change the ID, but it won't run with Legacy, how do you know anything's changing?

Since this is the all-in-one LCP2 Legacy board, if it's not recognizing the signal on the track, it's either the antenna or the LCP2 logic board I would expect.  The sound coming up immediately suggests that it's not seeing the TMCC track signal.

Time to send it to Lionel.
