The only separate-sale tender by Lionel that I'm aware of at this ridiculous hour of the morning is their Polar Express tender with Trainsounds, 6-36847.

But that's hardly a match for the UP H7, assuming we're talking the JLC full-scale edition of 10+ years ago.

Otherwise, you're looking for the proverbial needle-in-the-haystack to find its perfect mate.  Something scale-ish could pop up at a show or on an auction, though.

But, might I ask another question that's always bugged me about situations like this?...

What happened to the original tender?  How did the loco and its 'food source' part company along the way?  Major accident?  Theft?  Weird divorce settlement?

Just curious, mind you.

For Postwar steamers it's more understandable.  Even today many of our customers count the tender as a separate 'car' when comparing train sets, or when bringing in the engine-only for service because the whistle doesn't work and responding to our first question with 'What's a tender?'  However, with a beast like the UP H7 and its original investment, the tender would seem to be more symbiotic in its wanderings with the engine.

Never mind...   It's just one more reason I'm up too early this AM...weird things/questions floating around among the rational remnants!

I'm not going to get back to sleep....might as well go for a stiff cup of joe, fully leaded, to turn the cranial crank over.

Merry Christmas, BTW.

trainz.com nearly always has a few on its website - in the O guage, steam locomotives, modern, Lionel subsection.  Some are rare and costly ($399 for an uncataloged NYC long centipede tender) some are very inexpensive (railssounds plastic NYC four-wheel trucks, etc.).  Sometimes they have older ones in the post-war section, too, usually much less expensive.

If you mean a new tender, right from the factory, then as far as I know, it isn't -- with the single exception that dkdkrd mentions above.  But I wish it was.
