Lionel Uncataloged ELF & CHRISTMAS VACATION BOXCAR available for Pre-Order at Nassau Hobby Center!

Too bad that for the "Elf" car, Lionel chose the tasteless "Son of a Nutcracker" quote.... which was pretty much out of character with the rest of the film.  Maybe a last minute swap in by "Whats a Candy Gram.  I want one!," or perhaps "So-long Buddy, we hope you find your dad."   There are numerous other better choices that I would rather have children see.   (And don't tell me... "well, that line is already in the film.")       

Yep. The Griswold's are back. They should have had an operating car with cousin Eddie's dog chasing the squirrel. One of the best scenes in the whole movie.

Printed box cars are easiest to produced.

The big challenge would be to have distinct action cars with 1:48th scale sized 3D printed figures that move around using motors and gears that are powered by track electricity.

I'm a huge fan of both movies but the price on these cars is simply ridiculous.

I predict blowout prices in January unless they are BTO.

Lionel could easily do a "Bobbing Buddy the Elf" boxcar.  The bobbing figures are animated by from gearing to the wheels.   Lionel still has all of those made in China. 

The Christmas Vacation car should have been lighted.

In the discussion of bringing young people into the hobby . . . 

An unlighted, non-operating boxcar lists for $84.99 and is on sale for $62.99.  Even if shipping is free, IMHO that's a significant chunk of money for one car.    Is it the royalty costs that make these things so expensive?

Is there a separate pre-order deadline for these cars, or can we lump them in with orders from the catalog coming out the end of the month?

What would be great is an operating accessory with figures and settings based on the characters of the movie, plus sounds and action from the movie.
