Thought I would post a quick video of a 3 train carpet layout in my living room (thanks to my wife for her patience and understanding) that my grandson and I get to enjoy every day right now. I started out with a Christmas tree layout and things just grew from there to this configuration I put together last week-end.

At some point this will be incorporated into a basement layout with multiple levels and more trains and action hopefully. Right now just a fun time to play with for us.

Hope you enjoy it and any comments/suggestions welcome.

Thanks Ace
I have been messing with this layout idea in RailModeller and just decided to see how it looked on the floor. I changed the original idea once I started laying the track out and added the side by side loop on the fly so to speak.
Here is a pic of the layout in RailModeller.

Thanks 'raising4daughters'. I left the gap in mine so the grandson can still go look out the front window when he wants to or else I would have probably have added at least one or two more straightaways along the outer wall there. The nice thing is the loop on the left in only about 3 feet from the wall so walking room is still available here. I used only O36 and O48 curves on it, once the basement layout begins, I will be also using O60 and O72 for the passenger cars.

Here are a couple pics of the layout if anyone is interested.

Thanks for all the comments

Thanks gunrunner john. Your posts always inspire me-constantly reading the electrical and repair threads here and on other forums which you post. I have learned a lot from your info.  Glad to give you some inspiration on something anyway.

Well Don
It's lasted since the original Christmas tree layout and has been expanding since. I just added a smaller oval inside the other one today so my grandson could watch his favorite "little car" gang car go around and around.
I committed to a kitchen remodel this year which included hardwood floors in the
living and dining room, so I would imagine that once spring pokes its head around here in NE Ohio and I start buying cabinets and hardwood flooring-that will be the day the carpet layout gets packed up for awhile.
But I will continue to enjoy it while I have it up.

Thanks. The double reversing loop started out as a straight run with a reversing loop on either end and because I am using fastrack O36 manual switches, they would auto reverse directions without my intervention so it was real cool to watch the Santa Fe cover all directions in it's cycle. Once I decided to expand it I just pulled the one reverse loop off and slid it 90 degrees and added the connecting loop.
Here's an older video of the the 3 trains side by side before I expanded the layout. It was shot on iPhone at night so kind of lousy quality-but you get the idea
