We may be talked into producing a line of these. Your input will be most appreciated

Interested, but would need to see pictures of what style you are considering.

Just the basic skeleton frame type. You add trucks and details.

Dave,

Main beam with cross arms at the center of the truck attach points. Holes drilled and tapped for 6:32 screws to install trucks. Perhaps holes in cross arms for vertical posts. A very basic frame that a modeler could do wonders with. Either 2R or 3R folks.

Might do some "S" gauge frames also.

I was already expecting to do that much - yet that still leaves much undefined as to style.

PSC makes a kit & RTR single truck buggies, and Keystone used to make several different styles in kit form.

The big sticker in cars with no trucks, is the dried up sources for trucks....and these

loggers take various archbars including old Keystone ones (if you can find them)...a lot of the old, unbuilt kits I have found languished in basements for lack of trucks...this includes the various Walthers and Am. Std. Car Co. gas electrics, assorted maker old passenger kits, etc.  Now with no Weaver, freight trucks have disappeared...plain, jane

Betttendorfs, and Roller Bearing, much less old archbars for historical cars.

What comes to mind are trucks from pre-1970 LIONEL cabooses. Cheap way to get trucks.

We have enough chunky, ride too high, no Kadee pads selections out there.

How about using Athearn - Archbar ATH90823 Trucks, they come with 2 rail wheels and cost about $10 to $12 for a pair.  You can add NWSL wheel sets for 3 rail, 8787-4, O scale 33"/210 wheels, POINTED.  These are about $18, and have to be ordered direct because no one stocks them.  You also may have to wait a while for delivery, must not be much demand.

Leave holes in the frame for trucks and  Kadee's, we can drill them out and thread them as necessary.

Because you are using aluminum you could make a finer car, not chunky, more like the K-Line/Bachmann cars.  Maybe in the 30' to 36' length.  Not as short as the MTH/Lionel but not as long as the K-line/Bachmann.

Check out this Dave's old thread for building your own.  Dave shows an old Lionel truck that works great, too toy looking for me.  I am going for the look of bob2's car.

I'll second that.  And I'll add that most of those too chunky and too high riding kadeeless cars are TOO SHORT to boot!  We don't need any more dinky east coast log cars.

Come up with a model of a 42' or 44' Seattle Car or Pacific Car & Foundry wood or steel skeleton log car and you will have a desirable product.

And remember "Carco Metal is twice as strong."

Here is the prototype. You can pre-order at

We need 25 pre-orders to keep this production going.
