With the Vision Line Legacy Big Boy coming, I was wondering what is the longest O gauge locomotive made. The BB will be 32-34 inches long. I know the PRR S-1 is another long one, but I don't know how long it is, and I know there were a couple really long steam turbine locomotives too like the C&O M-1. So, could people post the length of their longest locomotives please?

The S1 is 36 inches long....(at least that was the length per Lionel's description)
MTH's Big Boy was also 34 inches long.
Has there been any confirmation with respect the Big Boy's length? The VL challengers are 32", yes? I'd imagine the Big Boy would be slightly longer?
I would guess 3rd Rail's Jawn Henry.
I would agree the S1 is the longest, at least from Lionel. I have a 36" turntable and it fits, but takes all of it.
MTH did a Premier C&O steam turbine a long time ago. The protoype loco was 106' long (not including the tender, 154' long with tender). Jawn Henry was 111' long (no tender). The S-2 was 123' long with tender. Experimental coal fired turbine consistes of a PA-1 (65'), and ex GN W-1 (101') and a Challenger tender (?)
I think the record goes to the MTH Union Pacific #80 Coal Turbine. It's over 54" long. The MTH C&O M1 Steam Turbine Electric is 39". The 3rd Rail N&W 2300 is slightly longer than the C&O M1.
Gilly
An A-A set of Centipedes comes in at 46". A solid contender for 2nd place.
get two of these A units together and that would be pretty long
Since you count loco and tender of steam, you might think it only fair to count tenders on big turbine slike the Veranda, if so, the longest O-quage loco I have seen is the MTH scale coal turbine. Mine is just under 53 inches long. Now, it consists of three units - the loco was split into A and B parts (but unlike F and E locos, neither would work without the other, though, so it was legitimately only one locomotive) and a fuel tender. Although this makes logical sense, I just can't quite get past the fact there are A and B units there. I tend to think of S-1 is the "longest loco."
A pair of Centipedes is 46", wow! That's good to know since I'd like to have a set someday. And a UP coal turbine is 54"? Hmm. And yes, tenders are part of the locomotive in my books, so that 3 unit turbine would be all one locomotive to me since it will never run in separate pieces on my model railroad. Of course this could increase the length of the BB too if I always run it with a aux tender.
Depends how what you consider a locomotive. Milwaukee considered their box cab units as one locomotive. Four made up a very long motor. Don

I don't see the Erie Triplex mentioned, so guess it wasn't that long...but maybe,
since I did the long caboose, I could do a triple articulated plus powered tender...
naw...somebody else can do that.
