Yes that diagram is correct for QSI PS-1 systems, but not necessarily for other QSI systems.

PS-1 engines had pretty good sounds generally. The only time they made clinks and clanks was when programming.

If the PS-1 board becomes scrambled they make the so-called three clanks of death. The way to avoid that issue is to make sure the 8.4 volt nicad battery is fully charged up before startup; particularly if the engine has not been run for a long while.

Rod

ok Rod or somebody..what the brown wire on the board in first pics? a ground?..the bottom of the second pics board is from C&NW E4 Hudson..the last pic top is the hudson board, second board came from a premirer challenger..ok what the blue socket for on the bottom under side and the one on the bottom top side?..on the two wire you'd mention Rod on the motor..which wire is the hot and ground/black side of the motor.the challenger board doesnt have volume control.oh the black switch is that for shutting off reverse unit?.

wonder why the challenger premire didnt have a volume control hookup?..thats the one with that brown ground wire. the lighing directional? ok bet most of these boards are universal and used for the deisels locos..or other wise you would need more then a 4 pin hookup to a steamer.tell me if im wrong on that..did steamers have mars light?

OK I got My S2 turbine with sound now..even thow it has the C&NW E4 hudson.. sound and works great.. but question.. the one with plug inns on the bottom board for the tender to engine,  each one has 2 prongs in each plug in.. theres only 4 wires.. need to know what side of these prong does the wire goes to left or right side?

If you had dual motors the yellow and white connectors would have 2 wires.  For Red and Black I have seen them with 2 wires coming in and with just one.  Doesn't matter.  G

no dual motor..I know which each socket is,think both out sides, white and yellow are to the motor? red for the 3rd rail track pickups. and well black should be ground.?just dont under stand why have 2 pins comming out of each socket for?..you only got 4 wires going into the steam loco...I got my S2 turbine going.. thanyou guys for the help.. now just need to straiten my S1 duplex.. yes i'd posted around about different sound systems.. since I cant get the sound board from lional from what I'm being told.. i'll try to stick to the proto 1 or qsi 2..or somthing around this area..
