The train shop I service for took these in for me to go over. Just had to post some pictures. You don't see these very often - if at all, except in pictures. Enjoy.

That's one of the benefits of repairing trains. You never know, what may grace your work bench.
memories of a simpler time
One of my favorite post war sets, thanks for posting.
Looking at the contours around the windshield and light housing, I can see how Lionel production deemed masking that area just too difficult and eliminated the gray nose. The fact that any got into production is some impressive optimism, the fact that any survive today is amazing.
