I operate my three main layout loops counter clock wise most of the time when just looping.  My three bypass and storage tracks have uncoupling sections to the left end of the track so I can leave a string of cars by uncoupling the coal tender going CCW.

The world mostly runs things CCW like baseball base running, track meets, automobile racing of all types (NASCAR, Indy 500, etc.) boat racing, rink skating, etc.   What is about most right handed people (90% of us) like to make left turns most of the time?

I have an oval and figure 8 for reversing trains in both directions on the inside loop and a double loop dog bone to reverse trains on my outside loop plus a newly installed Wye on the outside loop to reverse trains so you can see being able to reverse train direction is important to me.  I also have a turntable to reverse engines.  So it not that do not like CW train running.

When displaying trains on my trains on shelves I almost always put the engine to the left and add coal tenders and the rest of the train ending, often with a caboose on the right.  Why?

I've designated CW as Westbound, and CCW as Eastbound on my layout.  Just trying to be a tiny bit more prototypical.

I use the same arrangement based on how my classification yard is oriented in my basement.  When in a switching mood, trains leave in both directions using the "Spinner Wheel" dispatching concept in Eugene Villaret's "Realistic Revenue Operations for Model Railroads".

When I just want to run trains, I guess most trains run CCW because my trains come out of my single ended staging tracks in that directing.
