Hi.

I have just posted about my "new" Lionmaster Class A over on the TMCC /Legacy forum. Looking at the engine the front motor appears loose and can move up and down compared tot he rear motor.

I assume this should not be the case but cant see how it is secured - anyone had this problem ?

Thanks

MIKE

I've had this roblem on the Lionmaster class a as well as a challenger.

This is a "somewhat" common problem with Lionmaster locos. Turn over the locomotive, there is a screw recessed in the bottom of each set of drivers. This is the motormount screw.

It is likely loose or missing, and needs to be tightend or replaced.

On the most recent Lionmaster offerings Lionel added a retainer to keep the motor in place even if the screw came loose.

Glad I could help,Lionel also has a  bit of loctite on the screws on the newer models as well.

I myself just checked the tightness periodically as the only way to grease the gearboxes on Lionmaster locos is to remove the screw and raise the motor up and the squirt some grease on the worm and inthe top of the gearbox.

Since you've been going through this loco,It might be a good idea for you to grease as well ( if you haven't already).

A little  lucas red in tacky in there should be good for the life of the loco.

On a side note, I switched to full scale after originally collecting every Lionmaster loco. The class A was/is still my favorite, and the one I miss the most.
