Bachmann has the items from K-Line. Atlas O almost had all the K-Line O Scale locomotives made in 2-Rail and 3-Rail before the people who ran Bachmann shoved Atlas O out of their factory in China. Now Bachmann will have to make all the former K-Line O Scale diesel-electric locomotives in 2-Rail and 3-Rail, if they wish to spend the money on the 2-Rail conversions.

There was an image of Soo Line as one of the road names for the RS-1, but it was not included in the final order. Will the Soo Line original and repaint color schemes be part of the next production run.

Andrew

It seems that I have been waiting several years from the first announcement of the 8-40CW to have Atlas build one. The last time I ordered some was last summer  and was told it would be here in the spring. NADA. I don't believe that they will be here in the fall. Fooled me too many times. Shame on them. But, I will buy a couple of the 25-5s

OK RUSTY,

Then I'll forget water-vapor engines from Atlas!

BUT, I would like to find an Atlas O-Scale 2-Rail Gold Series GP-35 loco with a QSI Quantum Dual-Mode Decoder that will allow me to run the loco and select sounds from my analog DC controller, just like it does with my Atlas GP-60.

It also has to be in SANTA FE, UP, or ESPEE  livery.

(The 2014 Online Atlas Catalog can't help me).

I suggest that you visit eBay, and search under Atlas GP35 in O Scale. There are some really nice looking pieces on there right now.

If you "join" eBay and then sign on, there is a place on each listing to ask the seller questions. That said, getting the answer/answers you desire from some sellers may be another thing.

So you decided to sell off your Santa Fe GP35, glad it went to a good home.   Is the GP38-2 far behind? Hal looks like you got an awesome locomotive.

There is no doubt that upgraded SD70 series locomotives would sell in O Scale.  At this stage the most likely candidate would be MTH.  We need to start a campaign with MTH to deliver the upgraded SD70 series from Spartan cab to the M and I series to  the longer SD70MAC.  All have enough roadnames, variations to make the project something that could be delivered in phases over several years.

The BN/BNSF had I think at least 8 different paint schemes between the 75m's and 70Mac's.

HEY MIKE,

Here's the story:

When I started building my O-Scale 2-Rail train, I bought the rolling stock first.

I always liked the rolling stock from the 1930's and 1940's (MY era), with the 40-foot boxcars and other "shorter" cars of that time.

Then when it came time to buy motive power, the only diesel loco (with sound) I could find with a Western road name was a Southern Pacific GP-60, which I later found to be unmatched to my era of rolling stock, being a generation ahead of time!

This is why I chose an earlier (1960's era) GP-35, which is also a little smaller, which should provide a better physical match with my older consist, which is a Boxcar, 2 short Hoppers, a Tanker, a Stock car, a Gondola, and a Caboose.

That's it!

BAD ORDER    (See? That GP-60 just looks like too much engine for the train...AND, the road name of the Loco doesn't match the Caboose!)

Hal,

You definitely got a great locomotive.  It does better match your intended purpose.  Although you already found your locomotive, perhaps an even better match for your era would be the MTH GP35

They still show in stock @ MTH

HEY MIKE,

You're suggesting another GP-35?

With a 7-car consist I need 2 GP-35's?

NO THANKS!

Besides,  I'm an ATLAS man. I have 3 locos now...all ATLAS.  My 123.5 feet of Flex Track is all ATLAS too.

My punching bag and boxing gloves are also ATLAS!

MTH?    Not interested.

(Barbie prefers ATLAS too.)

Hey absolutely. Gotta have a little change of pace and it better fits in the era you're suggesting.  Also the railroad needs to have another loco in case of breakdown. No worries.   To each his own.

Hi BOH,

I hear ya on that.  I have an engine or two that are surplus because of a better fitting engine came my way.

I do have to say, I really like my GP35 from Atlas and I think you will too.  If you are serious about selling your GP60, I may know a fellow who might be interested in it.  I'll have to ask if he ever found one or changed his mind.

Greg

HEY MIKE,

I'm looking to agree to what you're willing to offer!

We can't discuss buying/selling on this Forum, so send me an email and we'll work it out!

I bought the Locomotive new from JD's Trains not long ago.

It has a great sound system that works with DCC or DC.

Gentlemen,

This will be my next Loco...a Santa Fe SW9 Switcher, in THIS paint scheme.

It will be from Atlas, in 2-Rail O-Scale configuration, with DC/DCC sound decoder.

(Am I crazy?  This will be my 4th Loco in 8 months!)

Here's a shot of the Prototype:

Are you sure that Atlas O has ever actually produced an EMD switcher in that particular Santa Fe styling?
