During the past few weeks track maintenance vehicles have been at work in the Larchmont / Mamaroneck, NY area. They are moving around tooting their horns while both Metro-North and Amtrak trains are passing by. Each type of train that passes (M-8s, Genesis P32s, ACS-64s, and Acela train sets) has their own different horn sounds blowing as they pass. The horn sound on the Acela's train sets are the loudest. All of the Metro-North M-8 sets are still running in 8 car sets. Probably after Labor Day when more people return to work and schools may reopen they may add up to 4 additional cars on each set as before the virus struck. Amtrak has been running their regular train sets with 7 Amfleet cars in recent months when up to 10 cars was the maximum that had been observed. Amtrak has been operating 4 Acela round trips between New York City and Boston Monday thru Friday when 10 round trips was the usual number before the virus struck.
