Nice! Enjoy your BBQ and suds with friends and family. Thanks for the videos!
I could go for an ice cold Bohack right now !
Ben...nice choice of JERSEY CENTRAL roadpower and freight cars.
RR story...when braking on EL RR, at the Rheingold Brewery in Orange, NJ, our crew got a great Christmas present from Rheingold...the loading dock crew filled up the entire caboose with cases of freshly brewed Rheingold in cans...could just about open the door!

A little history on Trommers beer It was started in Bushwick Brooklyn in 1897 They called that brewery the Evergreen brewery and had a large restaurant and beer garden attached to the brewery that could seat 4000 people They later added a hotel and advertised as a resort that would include beer with each room.
The thing about Trommers was that it was 100% Malt beer without any fillers or additives The unique thing was its yeast
"Nothing but the finest quality of malt and imported hops and yeast, besides water, enter into its components. On principle Mr. Trommer refuses to substitute rice or corn for the more expensive malt, or to use glucose or chemicals. The net result is a beverage which for absolute purity, fine flavor and wholesomeness has no superior among either foreign or domestic beers."
Trommers survived prohibition and the depression in a very interesting way They gave money to German immigrants to start hot dog carts and stands The agreement was to feature Trommers no alchohol White Label Malt brew. This increased their business and in the 1930's opened another brewery in Orange NJ.
Strikes by delivery drivers in the late 1940's spelled the end of Trommers The thing that gave it the best taste was its yeast The delivery drivers struck for 72 days Since yeast is a living thing nobody maintained it in those 72 days and it died. Yeast is needed for fermentation. Trommer’s had to begin a new strain of yeast and this radically changed the taste of their beer. Sales dropped off the table after that They sold the Orange brewery to Rheingold in 1950 and the Evergreen brewery to Piels in 1951.
When Schaefer beer opened its Allentown brewery in 1975 it purchased the Trommers name and Piels name and brewed it in Pennsylvania Very short lived.
Here is what we sent them

"Bohack"? That rang a bell for me. Bohack's was a big chain of supermarkets with a presence in NYC while I grew up there. They had a bunch of store brand products. I didn't know beer was one of them. Thanks for the flashback. 🙂
