Man cave + trains?

I built this 26' X 20' addition over my garage just for my Train Room /TV/ Office,

My layout is in my basement along with my work space and train storage room.

My wife has her own TV in the living room but this is where I come to watch my TV and sometimes just sit and relax looking at my train collection.

I also have a small office set up in the corner. Call me a little wired but I like to be surrounded by trains when I watch a movie or read a book. The only thing missing is a rest room!

You will not be sorry once you build your man room. I hope some of the photos help.

Ah nuts...

16X34. It's not fancy but it has all the whistles and bells I want. Refer with cold beer, computer, climate controlled Hi Def TV and stereo and all my trains. The phone and house intercom I want to toss out in the yard sometimes but I don't.

My wife has a few other names for it , but I call it my peace and tranquility area. I do have a few chairs but, I don't get many visitors around here.

At present I'm slowly converting my "WW2/Korean War Aviation" room to my train room. I've donated and sold a large portion including a B17, F86 and a P38 instrument panel full size set up. Only have 1 wall and several safes to move out to fully convert to my "Train Hideaway".

Those are nice photos, guys.  It's very interesting to see what you have done.

Wow, I am so jealous. My man cave got converted to a nursery when our twins came along because it was the only room in the house that was really big enough for two boys. Enjoying what I have in the garage right now but one day I'll get that big room back and I'll be ready!

Maint, great man cave, I am wondering what your layout room looks like?  Pictures?

I sure wish some of these members that have some really outstanding train rooms would post some pictures.

I'm not saying names , but I have seen peeks of some great train rooms before on here. 

I know me , Joe, and Maint are not the only train room nuts on here.

Anyone have any furniture (coffee tables, end tables, chairs, etc) or accessories (lamps, lights, etc) that make use of railroad equipment or station gear?

Hey Maint, how can you put a Yankees car right next to a Red Sox car? Don't they push each other off the shelf?  Go Yanks! 

If any one knows where to find that kind of stufff, I am interested in putting some in my train room

I agree, Ace, very interesting. I'm not certain how fond of it I would be, though, after finding the sharp corners of that rail with my foot for the umpteenth time. Great stuff, nonetheless.

   At the present time the only RR item at the man cave, is the Red Rear Lantern that came off the old Wellsville, Addison & Galeton, Logging Train, Cabin Caboose, when my Great Grandfather bought the Logging Cabin Caboose for his Granddaughters to use as a play house as the logging era came to a close around the Pa Grand Canyon.  I have been thinking however of adding an over head O gauge oval around the complete living room, where the wall meets the roof.  This is a large room that could accommodate the train layout very nicely.

Yeah, those rails are ankle busters for sure.

Loose the tacky silk Ivey and add an appropriately themed magazine rack, then it's there.

I made my own end table out of red oak, inside I put an N guage train layout I made.  Put a glass top over the whole thing.  It is subtle, many people just think it is a nice end table, until you look in it.  Rest of the train swag goes in the train room.

Here's the little guys train man cave. There is a shelf layout coming. We are waiting on some warm weather to paint the shelves prior to installation.

Fun "little guy" man cave, Goshawk. Here's an idea for a bed that would be perfect for little guy man caves. This is from Pottery Barn for kids, $2,000.00. It must be a Vision Line.

We saw that, just couldn't cough up the money. We will be building a new house in the next year or so and may build something similar at that time. Like that lamp too!

It wouldn't be that difficult to knockoff. The lamp is fun, I may try and find one for myself.

That's what I was thinking!

Still working on mine, finally almost finished with the build out. I installed a bar off the train room so the trains can loop around the bar and deliver drinks. I am just now getting to the point where I am deciding what pictures to hang everywhere.

Great looking refreshment spa, Zett. I would wager that adult beverages are delivered via rail.

Nice bar!  if you're delivering drinks by rail, i'd add a couple hoppers filled with pretzels and cheezits
