Anyone have an experience rebuilding or replacing the clockwork mechanism in the 4-1/2-inch loads Marx offered?
I have several that have had the clockwork removed and don't know if the windup out of the smaller Marx 376 or Mickey loco or the M10000 streamliner might replace them.

Just one observation - The presence of a hole in the side of the truck, such as the one you have photographed, does not mean the truck came with a windup motor. Marx made trucks using the stamping that punched a hole in the side which never had the wind up motor installed.
good thought. And I realize the loads all had wooden wheels but I thought a Technofix or Ranger clockwork might transfer if the small Marx was a no go.
Where can I get one of those cute little M10000 sets?!
