Greetings from London;
i recently bought the attached signal. It appears to be complete.
It is a remote switch; the lights show red if the track is dead, or green if it is live- the centre is illuminated at all times. I can't locate a wiring diagram, or instructions. It is a 1404, but the metal one was replaced with a plastic one in the 1960s. Any assistance most welcome.
Also il looking for a source of cloth covered wire to rewire it.

Hi David. I wish I could help with your question but I would suggest you post this question over on the tinplate forum. We have some Marx guy's over there that may be able to help. I have never seen one of these signals before but it is very cool!

As for cloth covered wire that is flexible, I can't help you. I tried 7 solid 20 ga. wires covered with vinyl on a Marx 1409, but it was too stiff. Ended up using 7 separate stranded 22 ga. wires banded together with shrink tube. Not the prettiest, but functional.

Thanks, I have found a bit more stuff. Marx made some brilliant signals. This is really an isolation switch. I'll post pictures when I get to Canada.
For your cloth covered wires I found this guy at the Fall York meet. Classic Electrical Restoration, the owners name is Michael Conrad, and he is from Lititz, PA www.cerestoration.com
