Hello Steve ( SIRT )
Thanks for the nice comments -- Yeah, just a tiny tad before my time in Manhattan -- the TARS streetcars under the 3rd Ave El in Manhattan stopped running when I was an infant -- but I saw and rode them - with my parents under the Bronx EL's until 1950 -- and in Yonkers up to 1952...and some lines myself in Brooklyn up to 1956.
Yes, you are right, and I agree its more recognizable for present day younger viewers, and your model BUSES and scenes photos look EXCELLENT and stunning !!
Your modeling and weathering work are always inspiring to me -- and give me ideas ! And I rate your work among those modelers in the top of the field.
Your SIRT Line modeled Concrete Viaduct EL section is outstanding and its weathering and details make it very realistic and prototype ! You SHOULD do up a few of Island Model Works Epoxy Resin O-Scale Staten Island ME-1 cars -- they will fit on BMT Standard chassis & trucks --- to operate them. Those SIRT cars will really finish those scenes on that EL !
However, some years ago I DID shoot my various model buses under my EL -- and have a FLICKR album of same - with and without the trolleys. Of course, the surrounding automobiles are quite, heh, "long vintage" in these present times -- but I also rode and drove some of them, and even owned and drove a few (1965 Ford, a 1967 Plymouth Valiant & 1967 Plymouth Fury, and others thru the 1980's etc.)
Here are some few sample photos of some of the many photos of my various buses under the EL --- and Here is the link to my BUSES UNDER THE EL Flickr Photo Album --
