I'm curious to know what voltage you are supplying to your Lionel switches. And to be specific, what is the measured voltage at the switch itself after wire runs? Currently I have my transformer adjusted to provide 14V at the worst, i.e. lowest voltage point. There are still one or two switches that don't snap quite as hard as I'd like. I am running 5-615X 072 switches but am interested in your answer for any vintage of Lionel switches. Thanks!

I use a digital multi-meter and test the voltage at the switch terminals or screws. For switches after the post war era 12 to 14 volts AC is recommended. For the 5-615X 072 switch, you mention, I would suggest 12 to 14(12.8 to 13.5 volts is good because of 120 volt line voltage fluctuations may cause a higher transformer output voltage) volts to the accessory or constant voltage terminal or plug , and not track power.

For switches of the post war era like the original 022's I use around 18 volts with the constant voltage plug. Use a post war ZW's terminal B or C to the switch.
