So we’re working to expand what and how we offer it. The Union Pacific trackside warehouse has grown from the original as-built 2-stories to this afternoon’s 6-story version, topping out at 20” tall.

We have also spent this week assembling a 4-story shadowbox that is three sections long, or 36” overall. Here’s what is new and different: 1 section has the loading dock and the other 2 are a plain 4-story warehouse. In addition to that we have randomly added five LED’s in each section and wired the whole model to a dimmer. Lastly, we have painted the floors and side walls. This model is ready to find its way to your layout, complete with a 1” tall RAILWAY EXPRESS AGENCY rooftop billboard sign.

This is a one-off model and is ready to  ship to you complete. Please contact us directly through email or call the shop number to discuss how it to get it on your layout!

Looks very interesting, Doug.

Like the idea that “1 section has the loading dock and the other 2 are a plain 4-story warehouse” - you can only have so many loading docks   I am REALLY interested on how you “randomly added five LED’s in each section and wired the whole model to a dimmer” - as we discussed, lighting the shadow boxes is not particularly easy. Finally a question... is the 1” tall RAILWAY EXPRESS AGENCY rooftop billboard sign available separately (a built up version) and if so, how wide is it??? I would love to get one that would fit on the 24” original warehouse I purchased last year.

Thanks.

Paul-

There are two holes for 5050 LED’s in each ceiling, so eight overall possible LED locations per 12” section for this 4-story version. We chose 5 LED’s per section to 1. create a bit of a random lighting pattern and 2. because the LED’s that we used have thicker wire. Maybe 6 could have been used, any more and a percusive adjustment may have been needed. If you recall, each shadowbox floor and ceiling has a hole for a 3/8” square styrene tube to run the wires in. We slotted the tube with openings that fall between each floor and ceiling.

The rooftop billboard signs have been developed with 5/8”, 3/4” and 1” high letters. You would need to use the 3/4” high version to fit in the 24” length that you have. They will be in the store soon.
