I received my Menard's order this morning. I had ordered the brewery to get the power and light building for free. They were both in one box, the individual cardboard box that contained the building were solid double corrugated and packing was excellent, FedEx would have to had really tried to hurt these in shipment, and I know what FedEx can do to well packed items as my successful claims against them attest. I am not complaining about these building, I am happy with both. Just in case you are wondering, the brewery seemed almost scratchbuilt with the materials they used, details were nice. The sides appear to be basswood or balsa not sure, with an imprinted pattern of brick with recessed mortar lines. The power and light on the other hand, using the same wall material, seemed more like paper printed with details, attached to smooth plastic walls. It is built to represent sheet metal wall material. Things like windows were plastic frames on both models, but the large service doors were a print on the power plant. The entrance door on both were a separate part. To me this is apparent when you get up close and personal with it, but on the layout at a distance of a couple feet, you will not notice it and overall it does look good. The wiring that I guess is supposed to represent an electrical connection from the power plant, or maybe it is just a shipping thing, but if not, the builder did not know where a wire went on an insulator, so if you want a bit more realism, you will need to redo those. They both take a 4.5 volt wall wart to light them up, not usually one you will find at Walmart.
