Hi all, I’m fairly new to O-gauge trains and this forum, and this is my first post. I’ve ordered several things from Menards and am very happy with the quality, price, and service, and this is not a complaint. My most recent order was a pair of Ore Cars and I thought it is interesting that I received a truly “uniquely numbered” pair of cars 😳, Greg

The 2-Packs of Ore Cars are always numbered the same. If you purchase another 2-Pack of the same Road Name, the car #'s will be different than in this 2-pack, but each car in the 2-Pack will be numbered the same.
Thanks for the explanation mustang. Being new to this I thought that all railroad cars had a unique number and that it would be easy to package two unique model cars. Live and learn I guess...
I’m with your line of thinking, and I’ve been at this a lot of years. From the labeling, I’d expect two cars with different numbers, too. Wouldn’t hurt to drop Menards an email to ask about it.
If they are one thing, they are responsive.
Well, they’ve only got pairs of one road name in stock, and the pictures show duplicate numbers on those. I wonder what they do with their six car sets, when they are in stock...?

hmmmmmmmmmmm.
If you do a search, Mark from Menard's talked about this a while back when these were introduced.
Miggy,
Be thankful, I would take the duplicate numbers over crooked and miss spaced numbers on the Menards cars that I end up with.... I know....they are still a good deal.

I found an earlier post that had this phrase: “something to do with the paired cars numbered as one, like drawbar connected hoppers.” I have no problem with the pair concept but it seems like it would be easy to stick unique numbers in the box. Pairs they will be...
I actually ordered another pair of cars a few days after my first set when I saw that the inventory was depleting fast. They arrived today, and they too are a “uniquely numbered pair”, and the number decals are a little lopsided. Nevertheless, they will work fine for my need:
I have been picking up one ore car at a time when I visit my local Lionel dealer - he has a stack of 1980/90s cars at a good price. My goal is to build a little ore train using a conventional Lionel “Little Joe” that I also got from him. I will sit back from my train table and watch in the distance, my Milwaukee ore train crossing the high Montana plains...
(Not sure if my ore train video will work or not)

Thinking about ordering a dealer 8-pak but not if they are all the same serial number. Anyone know if an 8-pack includes duplicate numbers or 8 unique numbers?

Per Menards website for the 8-Piece O Gauge Ore Car Dealer Pack:
- Each car is uniquely numbered - No two are alike!
A pair I bought this year had unique numbers between the two cars:
Maybe a subsequent production run switched tactics?
