Blue,

I don't know about you but I don't see the word only.  To me it says "Sold in Stores", and it does not say "Not sold online, in stores only".

From the original post:

"Feedback Wanted

These engines have been in development for several years and delayed further by COVID-19.

This limited edition is our first locomotive, and we want to know your opinion of the model's appearance, functionality, reliability, performance, value, and most of all, did you have fun running it? This will help guide us in the future.

Please email your thoughts and feedback to Ray at Guest@menard-inc.com

Remember, the purpose of this test run is to gather feedback. The more people who get one, the better. With this in mind, and because the supply is so limited, we ask that you limit your purchase to one engine per customer.

Features

  • Very limited - Only 200 produced"

Seeing that Menards has more than 300 stores, a production run of 200 couldn't possibly cover all the locations anyway.

In spite of the misprint, the locomotive was only available online with a limit of one to a customer.  The 200 units sold out in 2-3 hours if I remember correctly.

That's actually how Menard's does it.  Take a close look.  Other items say shipping and Delivery  or Ship to Store.

The "Sold In Stores" is how Menard's keeps an ongoing product in front of you, when it's out of stock.   Whenever they release more, you will see the Shipping and Delivery line.

Not a big deal, and nothing to go on a 20 page rundown about

This post was completely unnecessary. When the revised units are ready, it will be impossible to miss. Menards will announce their availability on this forum, in its email (to those who subscribe to Menards products and promotions list) and ads in OGR and CTT.

And for future reference. When an online product goes out of stock, the website defaults to the “sold in stores” lingo — which, unfortunately, for trains happens often. Also, remember, Menards doesn’t ship new train products to stores for its seasonal shelves until October. Anything you see in the stores after Dec. 31 is old new stock that didn’t sell for Christmas.
