WHEN is MTH going to offer a run of LIRR "Ping-Pong" coaches to go along with their new LIRR FM C-Liners?

I remember these trains very well as a youngster at my Grandfather's house in Hicksville on the Port Jefferson branch!

The iconic LIRR "Ping-Pong" passenger coaches deserve at least a limited run!

PLEASE!

It's a question of new tooling. Charlie has asked MTH many times.

Every one who wants these has to contact MTH to let them know so they can see that there is a big audience for them. Maybe, just maybe they'll finally make them.

Hey, they finally are offering just an A unit C Liner instead of an ABA and a 5 pack of just coaches, no vista domes. There may be hope.

Scale Ping Pong cars would be 13.5" long, so these cars would be ideally suited for operation on 031 curves. There is not much detail on a Ping Pong car negating the need to make them in the Premier Line. Instead the Ping Pong cars could be Rail King Imperial.

I think we should start a poll to determine how many cars would be preordered and how many would bought when they are catalogued. Preordered cars provides capital to offset tooling costs.

I would buy a set of eight Long Island Rail Road Ping Pong cars in steam era livery and even more cars if I don't have to clean out my bank account to do so. I would also like to have the Long Island G5s return as a Rail King Imperial item.

I would love to see them as well, but doubt I will. Selling LIRR locomotives is one thing since they are common models to other railroads, but LIRR speciific cars might be asking too much from one of the big guys.

On the other hand, ping pong cars would make a nice new Railking passenger set!

The Atlas Trainman cars would be a decent stand-in for LIRR equipment. The Lionel Baby Madisons also look somewhat like a P54.

Andy

I just watched a clip of the end of steam ceremony in hicksville on youtube. The G5's came in with gray P72's and a Tichy C-Liner passed through. While not pulling the P72's, they at least were together in the same timeframe. Like you said...plausible.
