December 27 was a day with snow. Not a lot, but enough to send me home early from work. But work never stops on a railroad. While no longer part of the railroad, the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel in Scranton, PA sets the scene for a freight train "chase" from the convenience of my home
The Delaware Lackawanna Railroad runs a grain train nearly every day of the week that they interchange with Canadian Pacific. The views here are of an empty train coming from the mill in Pocono Summit, PA. To leave the Scranton yard and get to Taylor about a mile away, the train pulls north on the Canadian Pacific and back the train to Taylor. Here the train of 4 Alco units is pointed toward Binghamton, NY.
The railroad has very few road crossings. A low bridge over the very busy Luzerne Street keeps rail and road traffic safe.
At the north end of the Taylor yard, we see the train is led by C420 no 405, RS23 no 211, C636 no 3642 and C630 no 3000.
That's my start for this week's collection of trains seen in the real world. Please post here what train has passed your window lately, and have a great week.
