Hey, folks! Wednesday is here, and have we got trains for you... I sure hope so. Here is what I stumbled across just yesterday.
Rumbling up the former Lehigh Valley RR mainline in Pittston, PA is Luzerne & Susquehanna light engine move. They are headed to the engine house on the outskirts of town in Duryea, PA. About a mile or so northeast of this spot.
Locomotives on today's catch are SW8 no. 50 and SW1200 no. 120. We are parallel to the Susquehanna River, a block or two away from the LV's passenger station in Pittston which was lost to hurricane Agnes in 1972.
I don't think the brick structure here is railroad related. It may be a pump house for the water system. <Edit: It is a sawmill.> It seems rather well maintained. The Luzerne & Susquehanna RR is a contractor running on tracks owned by Luzerne County Redevelopment Authority. Their mainline runs from Pittston to Wilkes-Barre, PA, with a number of branch lines once owned by the Erie, D&H, DL&W, LV and CNJ.
If you have a favorite railroad you follow or chase, please add some of your photos to this thread. Have a great week, everyone.
