This SD60M was built for the BN in March 1991 at GMDD in London, Ontario and given this livery in support of our forces fighting to drive Saddam Hussein out of Kuwait in Operation Desert Storm in 1991:
She remained in this livery, with several respectful retouchings, until May of 2000 when she was refurbished and painted up in BNSF Premium Livery and assigned the roadnumber 9299 which was apparently to be her original designation before the fellas in Ontario were inspired to make her the great tribute to our men and women in uniform she was for over 9 years.

Well Larry, when I lived in Paducah in the "aughts," I used to drive past Ft. Campbell on I-24 on my many trips to Nashville. I wish I'd known you then as I'd have stopped by for a session or two on your fantastic layout!

Changed up the paint-scheme a bit, and moved to a Marx chassis:
Changed it up to the French "lozenge" scheme and gave it a shot of semi-gloss enamel, trying to get a more toy-like appearance.

Mr. Muffins Army triplex is really nice. Too bad, I did not hit the lottery.

Some pw Lionel HO, Ready to launch!
Here’s. Pershing tank from Atlantic models that I picked up on sale at Hobby Lobby a few years back. The figures also came with the kit -
NWSE BEEP moving supplies and weapons to the piers for Fleet pickup. You may have noticed the flatcar with the missile was moved to the rear of the train. That is due to a malfunctioning coupler. The Engineer had priority orders, he knew the fleet was waiting and didn’t think it prudent to leave the missile on a bad order track. He dropped it and ran around it. Picking it behind the caboose.

What scale is the Pershing tank? I have a 1/48 Pershing and the tracks hang about half off the sides of the Atlas 50’ flatcar. Good scene!

JohnB,
Here is a shot of the kit box. It SAYS 1/48 in the upper R hand corner, but one would need to actually measure the model and scale out against a real tank… FWIW

Thanks! As Shadow noted above, the box said 1:48, but it does look a little undersized compared to my Tamiya Pershing.

Strap Holder,
The Atlantis model is also a M46 Tank which was know as a Patton Tank not a Pershing Tank. The M46, M47, M48 and eventually the M60 were all know as Patton Tanks, guess they ran out of names until they introduced the Abrams tank. All Pershing and Patton tanks looked very much the same except maybe the M60 which had a different shaped turret. All great tanks that won the Cold War.

Yes, exactly. it’s my understanding that the Patton tanks were just an improved version of the Pershing, utilizing the same chassis, so they should be relatively the same size. That’s why I was comparing both models. I think Tamaya is usually accurate on scale sizing, so the Atlantis Patton tank may be a little off but still makes a great flat car load. Don’t hesitate to pick one up. Hobby lobby usually has them on sale .

Thanks for sharing. I have quite a few Bandi kits my self. I need to finish some get them on a flat car and post.
Here’s my offering for Millitary Monday. But first thanks to Rusty for starting a great thread. I built this tanker many years ago now. I used at the time a old Revell kit with some GasOline decals. I shorted the tank trailer and added supports down the side of the tank trailer. I also added Tamiya wheels from one of my CCKW truck kits. Enjoy the pics.
