I have the mini accessory commander which I am installing in an operating merchandise car (27941).  The car contains a simple circuit board to power the dc motor to eject the merchandise cubes.  The circuit board has 1 diode, a 70uf cap, and a voltage regulator (s7809PI).  The regulator outputs a fixed 9 volts to the dc can motor.  I see 2 ways to connect the accessory commander.

Option 1: Use the accessory commander as a simple switch to power the existing circuit board.  Connect the high current output to the existing wires powering the circuit board and let the original board continue to regulate the power to the motor.

Option 2: Remove the existing circuit board and connect the dc motor directly to the Accessory Commander using one of the high current outputs.  I could then set the voltage on the commander to output 10 volts to the motor.  I would have to add a diode in line to power the motor (supplied with the accessory commander kit) and also connect the included cap across the motor contacts.

Is it better to keep the existing regulator or connect the motor directly to the mini accessory commander?

Thanks.
