At York on Friday, we picked up a Lemax Yulemeister brewery building. I have decided to make it the centerpiece of an Oktoberfest scene on the layout. Has anyone done this? Would love to see photos.

I have one along with a winery. Something like what you want to do. It is elevated over a tunnel in the corner. I have an RDC / trolley run in front of it.

On Friday I also made the same purchase because I liked the animation. I will be incorporating it into a Lemax/Dept 56 Christmas display. It may be helpful to research actual photos of Oktoberfest in Munich. I was in Munich during Oktoberfest and the festivities take place in large tents sponsored by the breweries. There are also a lot of amusement rides and a massive amount of people. You could also set up picnic tables inside and outside the tents. If you can find figures in traditional dress ((lederhosen) it will add to the authenticity. Good luck that’s a unique idea and keep us updated on your progress.

@cpowell - nicely done. And I see you run all the best railroads!
@Tranquil Hollow RR - it was the animation that impressed us too. In fact, we had just been discussing adding some unusual animation to the layout right before we saw the brewery at York.
Mr. chessiechick's family is of German descent, and, while we have not been to Germany, we've been to Oktoberfest celebrations at German clubs in Philly, Lancaster, and Reading. I'm planning to do an outdoor area of picnic tables with checkered cloths and lights above, food stands, a playground, some port-a-potties and (if space permits) some rides like a carousel and a tent with a polka band and dancers. I found some cute Bavarian dressed people but only in HO scale.
That sounds like a good plan . With some searching you’ll be surprised with what you can find and/or modify.
I would imagine that you have enjoyed Cannstatters then.
Nope. Was starting to do a still in the woods once.
