I didn't want to dilute Bill's recent Interview With Lionel thread, so in response to a statement that was made about not knowing what the cars from a certain dealer/manufacturer looked like.

I know I posted these before, but it looks like they got deleted because they're not a forum sponsor.  So here they are again, with all references to the dealer/manufacturer deleted.

While they aren't the most modern of freight cars, they are the most modern S Scale cars currently available.

I will say these come equipped to run on Flyer/Hirail track and scale wheels are supplied.  You're on your own for Kadee's.

Thanks for posting those pictures.  I am going to purchase a few of them despite the fact they aren't the cars you see new on the rails today.  How hard would it be for the company to post something like you did on their website so buyers could see what they looked like?  Any chance you have similar pictures of the tank cars, 3 bay hoppers, and gondolas  Thanks again for taking the time to post the pictures.

SSA's Gondola's and tank cars are steam era.  The gon is a composite drop bottom gondola and the tank is 10,000 gallons I think.  The 3-bay coal hopper is 1980's vintage, I have pictures in my files somewhere, I'll have to check when I get home.

SSA also has CoalPorters in BNSF, but they weren't in the catalog (their only catalog) I scanned.

OK.  Some pictures.

First up is a test shot of of DPH/SSA's Thrall gondola.  This is a truly a contemporary car.  As far as I know it's only available as a kit:

Here's the DPH/SSA 3-bay coal hopper.  I seem to recall it's based on the Pennsy H39 and a tad south of what can be considered "modern" from the 2017 perspective.

Finally, the AM tank cars.  Also a little long in the tooth to be considered "modern," but outside of locating some elusive Downs or Iron Rail (both out of business) tank cars, they're the most modern tank cars readily available:

I admit I'm late to the modern game, so my overall knowledge is minimal.  If the SD70's ad ES44's hadn't come out, I'd still be fat dumb and happy modeling the mid-late 1950's.
